I'm starting my search for the neighborhood I want to settle down in. Am interested in an area that hasn't yet been "discovered" (anywhere in the U.S.) and needs handy people to bring the cottages back to life. Is anyone gentrifying?

Has a web site like this and top ten listings of the best places to be. Rural America still has many towns that are a step back in time with whole downtowns made up of these neighborhoods. Many of the houses in original condition. People seeking a new retirement purpose come in and invest - revitalizing old storefronts into little trendy shops that bring in the tourists who buy the houses and the towns grow. Ofcourse with the current economy that has slowed down in many instances. Will come back. :)

There are places in the United States that actually "pay" you to move there. Do a search on 'homesteading' and see what shows up.
