I know we get a lot of guest "listeners" on these boards and I just wanted to cordially invite you all to register or login and join in on the conversation! We'd love to meet you and hear your thoughts and ideas! Who would like to be the first to drop in and say "Hi!" ?

Hi My name is RaNae I am pretty new here aand I find it hard to navigate still :o but will devote more time to getting to know this system. I introduced myself on the wrong thread/forum? and got embarrased lol :( Cottage industry- I don't have a buisness ...yet lol so I'll introduce myself here. My name is RaNae I am a member and have been for years of several MSN decorating groups and I am new to THS and here. My nickname RaNaeLuvsEwes comes from my love of Sheep I collect sheep and hope to have a hobby flock in retirement. Ewes is the word for female sheep. I love the movie Babe and am looking forward to getting hoodwinked. I like to think that if Angels had pets they would be sheep. I am married to Doug since May of 87 but I met him at 18 in 1983 5 days before turning 19. We started dating in March of 84 and have been together ever since. We have 2 beautiful Miniature Pinscher Girls Miss Maggie and Miss Jorgie... no human babies yet but I still have hope of being blessed but if it doesn't happen I'll be ok.

WE relocated last August to DFW area after living in Tulsa OK area for 20 years. We LOVE North TEXAS... Go Longhorns and Mavs and Stars!! We bought a Fox and Jacobs home with a small lot - it has a floorplan that is nearly perfect for us and we love it even though people my dh works with give him crap about it saying how it's a crappy house- but we found it to be supremly built compared to what we had in OK and we can afford it and if dh were to get laid off we could still afford it. Although we have more sq footage than the old house in OK we have a smaller home in our addition.... they go up to 3000sq feet- we just couldn't see navigating the two stories in the years to come or heating and cooling all that and with it just being the two of us there would have been alot of wasted space sooo our 1869 sq feet suit us just fine. I know it's not a traditional "cottage" but that doesn't mean I can't make it a cottage on the inside and out. It is deffinitly a work in progress and I need alot of case goods but here is a link to my site so you can look around if you want.

Hi everybody!!

I've been meaning to post but never get around to it but here goes. My name is Dawn and I live in Ohio. I am married to a very loving, kind and patient man named Glen. We have spent 16 years together and I can't imagine life without him. I am a stay at home mom and also a domestic engineer to my family and home.;)

We have four children, Matt 14, Neil 9, Rosie 6 and Gracie 3 and a big old 1925 foursquare that we are painstakingly redoing. We've redone the kids rooms, gutting one, papering one, and faux painting another. We've stripped and repainted doors, polished up paint-laden hardwares, stripped and refinished our beautiful pine floors, and are now planning on reroofing, along with skim coating the living room, dining room...get the idea?;)

My passion is refurbishing furniture pieces and utilizing old, forgotten "treasures." Give me a thrift store/tag sale/auction any day of the week over Macy's and the likes. I love trying out new projects and feel fearless in my journey's. Raising a garden and canning my crops are also things I enjoy and take pride and pleasure in.

The next hobby I'd like to master is sewing. I want to learn crochet/embroidery and also how to upholster. I guess that is about all I have to say and I am looking forward to making new friends.

Hi Dawn great to meet you. I love 4 squares but you don't find many of them around here. Your home and family sound great and I would love to encourage you to sew it is sooo enjoyable. I too want to learn how to upholster. Crocheting is easy I can go through my stuff and see if there is any easy direction booklets I could send you.
Let me know RaNae

What a real treat to have found this forum!! DH and I have been married since 1969. We live in a small 50's cottage with less that 700 sq.ft. of living space. We are working on decluttering as we are remodeling. Our place is called Plum Cottage.

I used to just think of our place as a tiny house, then found a book on cottages by Mary Emmerling and I realized what we had was really a little diamond in the rough. Many, many years ago we were told we ought to just tear the house down and build something bigger and NEW. We couldn't afford to do that, and we didn't really want to either. Over the years we have been remodeling as finances allow and I really love how our little compound on our 1/4 acre, is coming together.

I have tropical cottage gardens and love working in them whenever I can.

I was so happy to have found Cottage Living magazine. Lots of great ideas and affirmation that anyone can live happily in these little jewels if we choose to. They are not for everyone.

I love to crochet using fine threads, paint some in watercolors, cook and bake (have over 300 cookbooks), knit, embroider by hand, read, listen to different kinds of music, enjoy life with my DH.

Looking forward to meeting more of you and hope more lurkers come out and introduce themselves as well.

P.S. I'll post pictures later, I'm at work right now and have no pictures in this computer.
