How often do you entertain? I mean from having the next door neighbors for a drink to a full-blown garden party! I confess I love to have people over but my DH thinks I am awful to live with while I'm planning! So, I try to throw a party about evey six months or so and have quiet evenings with friends about every 6 weeks.

Trellis, you sound like me. I drive DH crazy when I am getting ready. My planning drives me crazy. Poor man can hardly walk through the house! Fortunately, we both love entertaining, unfortunately, we don't do as much as we once did. A casual dinner party will probably be in the fall. The plan is swirling in my mind!

If having neighbors over for cocktails count, we entertain about 5 times a week. Formal dinner parties are quite rare around here, I just don't enjoy them that much. I did host a mother's day brunch this past weekend for my family and my sister's boyfriend's family. It was fun pulling out the crystal and setting a proper table, but its too much work!
We do have an annual Memorial Day BBQ coming up, which I cohost with my sister and her friend (who happen to be my next door neighbors). We're expecting about 100 people.

I usually have friends or family over every couple of weeks. I host an annual 4th of July party, where friends come from all over the country and pitch a tent in our back forest. We have food galore, water balloon battles and hide-in-go-seek. All the kids love it! I also host an Easter party, a Christmas party and community Sunday dinners in the fall. I love a good party.
Oh... And my husband won't speak to me during the "cleaning phase" of the prep for a big party! :o

My husband gets very stressed out if we have a planned party. We are doing a baby shower for my sister next week and he's started pacing and complaining that we'll never get it all done - but we will, we always do. Throughout the summer we entertain informally every couple weeks. If it is a nice day, we can count on friends popping over for a swim and the next thing you know, we have a house full, kids are running everywhere and the men have gone off to buy supplies and beer for a barbecue. I like it that way. There is less stress and we seem to enjoy ourselves more.
