I found the first Cottage Living magazine at a local grocery store, loved it, subscribed and have my issues dog-eared from all the idea gathering.

I live in a small farmhouse bungalow type which started out as a four-room home then the bathroom and two rooms were added to the back. We are the third generation of one family to live in it.

My latest project is to add interior french doors to the bedroom that opens off the very small living room so that now we have a tv room. The doors were purchased from Lowe's as a returned special order, originally $695, bought for $150!!!! Really. We hired a couple Amish carpenters to install as my husband is not handy (nor does he care to learn...). Total cost was $310. The doors are special, beveled etched glass 72". I love them.

I love fixing up this old house. It has been a labor or love.

As to all of you who miss Victoria magazine, me too!! It was a lovely gentle inspirational magazine. Very sweet. I've tried to pick up the older issues wherever I see them. I really liked the very early issues.

Now, on to Spring!

Hi! Hooray for your new french doors, what a deal. My grandpa Amos was Norwegian and a bright red head. I am blond and so wanted to have flaming hair. I loved Victorian magazine's red headed models. But Cottage Living is a true, new find.
