i think the best industry 101 idea is to aim at your target audience and realize what her ideal price is and go for that price..fit her needs....
...in other words if you are trying to sell to a woman with cool taste with an average income and a house payment and that awful drain on money;;;kids;;;....go for her price range.....but make sure you are making money at that price...
if your target is palm beach or aspen, go for it in a big way and forget the vast population who couldnt afford those prices...
if your target is the working poor....you are in trouble.....well they have to go to walmart ..they dont have any money....
thats been our experience.....most people who come to us can afford our prices....our look is kind of what you would see in cottage living or country home ...but the price range is easier...so it sells fairly easy....

nobody likes to go shpping where they cant afford anything...like i probably would love designer clothes or a castle but since i cant afford them why torture myself...
i generally want to pay prices between target and pottery barn.and thats where i aim my store prices....
