I must confess... I'm getting tired of working on my house (gasp!). I'm alternating painting and reading. Right now I'm reading a book called The Shipping News. Loving it! Beautiful writing, great characters. Makes me want to go to Newfoundland and take a peek.

Anyone else out there reading something wonderful?

I can't get anything done in the winter (DH is a CPA with his own firm and works nonstop) so I do a lot of reading. Besides it's too bloody cold here to do much but hibernate.

My friends and I started a book club two months ago. I just finished reading The Kite Runner. It is a book that I would never pick up on my own, but I really did enjoy it.

A few of my favorite authors that I could (and do!) read over and over are:

Maeve Binchy
Rosamunde Pilcher
Raffaella Barker
Frank McCourt

I seem to have a penchant for British/Scottish/Irish authors.

Your home projects can wait, Lisa...just enjoy the books for a while. You'll get back to it eventually!!

Hey Solei!

How is your beautiful house coming along?

I enjoy the authors that you mentioned too. In fact, I just re-read some Rosemund Pilcher books. The nice thing about my middle age is that I don't remember that I've read a book until 2/3 the way thru. If I accurately guess at the outcome, I figure I've read it before!

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods? We have rain and more rain in Oregon... I'm finding that I'm not minding it too much this year. Too many good soups and homemade bread to be eaten! Good books to be read... :)

I just finished 'Wicked' and really enjoyed it. Also just read White Oleander. It was well written, but not for the easily depressed. I think I'm a pretty happy girl and that one set me back for days!
