View Full Version : New Mailing

I'm almost all excited. I am all set to send out a mailing to 200 of my soon to be best friends -- they just don't know it yet. Interior designers, dog groomers and media people. Sounds like an odd subset till you look at my doggy dishes -- people who decorate will want a solution to the ugly dog dish and people who regularly groom their dogs will want special accoutrements. And the media people because this is a really good time of year newspaper and TV people to be looking under every rock in town for a decent human interest story.

So, my mailing is all ready to go and I am hoping it will be effective -- I have to say that creating, printing, copying, colating, folding and stuffing all this into envelopes which I also prepared is no where near as entertaining as one might hope. I'm just lucky to have a color copier, so if nothing else, this is pretty cheap.

The thing I am not looking forward to are those follow up phone calls. I'm really good in front of an audience, ok fine with a group, but tongue-tied and backward one-on-one. And just when you think it can't get worse, I'm especially bad up-close and personal when my livelihood is on the line. Yikes!

Anybody else get the heebie-jeebies when you have to make phone calls?

Crawling back under my rock now,
Jenny :o

Is your mailing by post or email?

Hi Hugh:

I was just thinking of you the other day, wondering what you site will offer new for spring.

This mailing is actual physical mail -- pieces of paper with a little bit of writing and lots of pretty pictures. Pretty, pretty pictures.

Ta-ta,
Jenny

Hi Jenny

Well...

Spring is still many weeks away here in Montreal... actually very cold and snowing here today, so we are hibernating.

We have plans to introduce some personalized family plaques which have a spring summer theme. These will be great as a welcome to our home sign.

We are making new neck coolers with lots of new fabrics...

We have also recently posted some new designs in our personalized plates section which feature a sports theme. These will be great as a thank you gift for a coach or as a momento for a child who just loves to participate.

As for the mailings, I was just wondering because we are going to be sending out an email update soon as well.

Best of Luck

Hi Jenny,

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any advice about making calls (I'm actually a teacher) but I wanted you to know that your products are absolutely adorable, original, darling and should inspire every confidence in you. Best of luck!

Jenny: Thank you -- it's one thing for my friends and family to say nice things -- but a completely unbiased unsolicited complement is as good as it gets -- thank you ever so much.

What I'm going to do for those follow-up phone calls is create a script -- at least for basic opening lines. It makes my breath come in short little bursts... eek.

Thanks so much for the kind words -- I might print this out and tape it in front of me when I make those scary phone calls.

Thank you,
Jenny

WOW!!!! I just mailed my press release on Saturday afternoon and this morning, Monday, a reporter from a local magazine called to firm up some information to be included in their April issue. That's fast -- and effective.

Good news is always good news.

Here's why I sent out paper -- paper sits on one's desk, it's gets shuffled about. Other people see it... This is as opposed to an email press release -- folks peek, click and it's gone.

Do any of you have thoughts on the subject. What do you think?

I think Congrats, Jenny!

You may be right about the click and it's gone.
