Of all the things I have figured out or stumbled into whilst building my site, this one has me stymied: I can't get my email to come up as a link. As it is a person viewing my web site who wants to contact me via email has to copy and paste.

With rare exceptiopn, any other place I've ever been, all I have to do is type in an email or web address and it highlights itself, ready to be clicked... like this: Jenny@oldbagnewtricks.com See -- highlighted all on it's own. But I can't make it do that on my website... why not?

Can anyone explain how to make it work right.

Thanks loads,:)

The html code for linking e-mail is just a little different than the typical hypertext link. The HTML is:
<a href="mailto:Jenny@oldbagnewtricks.com">Jenny@oldbagnewtricks.com</a>

You'll notice the "mailto:" That's what lets a browser know its a e-mail address. Some software will add the mailto automatically, but many will not. Hope that helps.

Thank you -- I had no idea. And I certainly would never have guessed!!! Aren't you just too totally smart... now I am going to see if I can "drop it somewhere".

Also, though, in the example, there is a space in the ".c om" -- is it supposed to be ".com"?

Thank you so much for clearing this up -- if I can't do something about putting this where it belongs, I will go off in search of someone who can. :D

Way too easily confused,

Hi Jenny,
If you built your site with microsoft front page you will have to make that email a link yourself by a few simple steps.
write the email address
go back over it and highlight it
go up to insert on the front page toolbar ( whereYou can insert picture clip art or hyperlink)
go down to hyperlink
when the dialog box comes up type in your email address in the hyperlink address bar.
If you built it with a different builder, I can't help you.
I just built a new site with Front page so if anyone needs Fabric for their little cottage please visit me!
