View Full Version : Carrying business cards

It seems to me that I never have business cards when I need them most. And when I have them I don't run into a single soul who would want them or care.
Do any of you make sure you have business cards just as surely as carry keys or ID?
At most I carry a fanny pack -- I won't even admit where I keep my keys.
And since my pet products are so, well, distinctive, I practically need to carry one around with me just to explain. ("You make what? Out of WHAT?" Or at the very least a good photo.
Do any of you have a hard time explaining your business or carrying appropriate cards, brochures, pamphlets?

You could do like my mom does. She loves to carry photos of my daughter around (Grandma's bragging rights, you know) and keeps one of those small business card holders from the dollar store in her purse. You could fit business cards and photos all in one.

Jillie!!!! Eureka!!!! That is a dazzling idea -- a small photo book and look, business cards tucked in there too.
You are the SMART Girl -- where can we find a Gold Star for you?
And guess what -- when I bought my new camera they gave me a coupon for ten free prints a month. I had no idea what I was going to use them for -- I take pictures only of my work and only because I have to and they are only for the website. Now I know.
So, I will go get me one a them thar book thingies. And I'll make a new purse to go with it. Divine. :p
Thanks

Jillie: I took me to the dollar store and bought myself a small photo book. Never mind that it has NASCAR on the front -- who drives the Home Depot Car?
Actually I'm kinda tickled about the cover, as it requires me to cover it.
A solution and a design opportunity -- oh, for the Love of Mike, I am not quite right.
But thank you, Jillie. Problem solved! :D

Mystery solved. Your new favourite Nascar racer is Tony Stewart (per hubby). I hope you didn't go too far into debt picking that out. Did you get the installment plan? Just glad I could help. It isn't often that the perfect solution is a cheap one.

For the record...you don't seem quite right. You create magnificent trays for doggy china. Who thinks of these things?!?!?!;)

Jillie:
And yet they let me loose with power tools. What a hoot!

This was Jilliebean's solution to my carrying business cards as well as photos of my products -- they can be really hard to explain describe. Underneath this hand-dyed, silk-embroidered linen cover beats the heart of NASCAR driver Tony Stuart -- I bet he's having a hard time breathing in there. Thanks, Jilliebean -- I think it turned out real well.

Thanks Ann -- I've been giving some thought to joining a little farmer's market here. When my doggy trays sell on line I include a little bag of homemade doggy treats (little bone shapes -- tre-too-cute). Of course I have no way of know if they buyer of the wee little ones has a cat or a wee little dog -- but I take my chances and send the bag of dog treats anyway.
As for carrying my business cards, mine are over-sized. I'm not sure if this is a wise idea, but I am forever losing business cards, so I figure other people do too. I didn't want them losing mine. But I created a problem for myself in carrying them. But in solving that I also solved the problem of explaining my product. To say that I make elevated pet food dishes doesn't really cover it. So in that little brag book are pictures of my pet dinettes as well as a sleeve of my cards.
My next step is to make a purse that has a pocket specifically sized to carry that little portfolio.
It's always soemthin'.
