What kind of view do you have from your cottage? Is it water, fields, forest, other cottages/houses?

I live in the middle of farm fields. I do have neighbors directly across the street though.

We see a busy urban street from the front of the house and an old growth pine forest from the back.

In my year round home we live in a neighborhood and I am the last house on a dead end street so I can see houses but our property borders on some woods so when I am on my porch that's what I see. In our summer house in Maine we see fields and water.

From the front porch I see a huge open field directly accross the street, and other older homes on either side and 2 brand new homes behind us. Our house is the oldest one on the street. Lots of gorgeous old trees, and nicely kept lawns and gardens. It's a nice view.

From the front door I see the back of a house, we live in a coach house. My northern view is of a schoolyard and the houses beyond. The southern view is of my neighbors back yards. If I turn my head kind of sideways out the east window I can see the Sears Tower.
Unfortunately, I woke up this morning to a view of grafitti outside my breakfast room kitchen.....gggrrrrrr.

Mine is a not so busy "suburban-urban" street -- a block off of a very busy main road.
The cottage next door is school bus yellow and hideous! (He's very odd -- when I work out front I chain up the bigger dog of whom he is very afraid. If I don;t he will stand nearby and ask lots of nosey questions... or he'll just stare. If the dog is with me he scurries frightfully into his house.:p) Otherwise the neighbohood is very nearly lovely -- it's a mix of races and ages. There's a young couple on the corner with three dear little boys. Across the street is a very elderly lady. There is a builder on my block whose own house looks like the Wreck of the Hespera -- but he's just recently left his wife, so maybe she'll fix it up.
Directly across the street is a sweet little gray cottage -- the woman who lives there magaes a floral shop -- she has the nicest things in her yard.

We are on a back country road that was dirt until about 6 or 7 years ago. Since it was paved with tar & chip, we get a little more traffic now but most of the time, there's no traffic at all - a car every few minutes or so. We are surrounded by farmed fields that change with the season. I love it when they plant wheat. When the wind blows, the wheat ripples like waves from the lake. Soybeans, corn and wheat are the main crops. Once in a while, they'll plant sunflowers which are so pretty but they don't bring in the same money as the other crops so it isn't often. Off in the distance, there are a few stands of trees. We do have one house about a hundred yards away. The next closest neigbour is way down the road. We have fantastic sunsets. I like where we live.

Though I already answered in this thread I just found this picture of the view out of my kitchen windows. Its cars parked on the street, a parking lot and more cars parked in the school yard. It there some kind of award for worst cottage view? :)

I was just curious, because my parents are originally from the Chatham/Tilbury area. I have cousins in the Blenheim/Erieau area. My cousins recently opened a winery. Their farm is right on the shore of Lake Erie. My 95 year old Grandma passed away in Oct. She lived right in Tilbury.
Anyway...wondered if you live in that area.

DUH...forgot to add that my view is of other homes...i do live on a lovely tree lined street, though. Just wish some of the neighbors kept up with their homes a bit better.

I'm in Lakeshore which also encompasses Tilbury but I'm about 20 min from Tilbury proper. Wish we were right on one of the lakes. My aunts/cousins have a few cottages on a beach on Lake Erie so we drive out there on nice summer days.

You live in a lovely area. I'm not sure if you drink wine or not, but here is an article on my cousin's winery. They are the loveliest people you could ever meet.
