I'm sure we've all had projects that have gone terribly awry. My most recent was a disaster of a paint colour I chose for our patio doors. My beautiful sage sample read "baby food peas" on the door. I painted over with black.

My lesson learned? Those little paint sample bottles and a piece of cardboard would have prevented me having to paint 5 coats of paint on those doors within one week's time.

My worst disaster was painting the hallway in my dressing room a berry color. I kept thinking it looked bad, but hoped it would look better after it was done. The carpet is a soft rose color and it looked putrid with that berry color! I guess I learned to trust my gut instincts!!LOL...

I posted these once before when I was redoing an old wardrobe and was too lazy to paint the inside, but they still remind me of the most important lesson I have learned--leave wallpapering projects for the pros. :D

"Lessons learned:

1. Since it was my very first wallpaper project, no matter how lovely I thought it was, I probably should have stayed away from a pattern with stripes.

2. Wallpaper glue will drip and it makes an awful yellowish/goldish mess on furniture pieces that have just been painted white--especially if it isn't noticed right away.

3. When holding wet wallpaper above my head to straighten the bottom, when it slips out of my hand, it will attempt to attach itself to my hair and face. It will also leave glue in my hair so that it can attach itself to anything I come in contact with later--like a freshly painted wardrobe.

4. Even though it is "glue", when it is dripped all over my ceramic tile floor, it will not prevent me from slipping down."

Lynzee - THANK YOU for that post. It gave me my first laugh of the morning. I can just picture your "attachment" to that particular project.:D

You just have no idea, Jill! I was truly a character in my own slapstick comedy that day. Never again will I tackle a project scoffing, "well how hard can it be?"
