I have been canning this great pear sauce........and I keep eating it because I think it is so good. In case anyone has pears left.....here is a super simple recipe:

6 cups of pears; peeled, cored and chopped
3 Tbsp lime juice and zest of 2 or 3 limes...depending on how limey you like
1 Tbsp grated ginger
1.5 cups sugar

Combine everything in pot and bring to boil over medium heat until mixture thickens, about 15 minutes. Continue cooking until pears have reached the desired consistency for your likes. I measure out the lime juice first and add it to the pot and then drop the sliced pears in as I go. The lime juice keeps the pears from turning brown.

Ladle sauce in hot jars and place in canner. Bring to boil and process 10 minutes........

It was georgous! We went to a pumpkin patch and rode on a hay wagon and then spent the evening at The Polish Festival. How about you?

That pear sauce sounds soooo good. I don't have any pears, but I'm going to write down the recipe. Maybe next year I'll have some.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend, Lisa. We're planning on going to a pumpkin patch/corn maze sometime next month if we can get some relatives together that want to go.

I bet the pumpkin patches were beautiful. Polish festival sounds fun too. I was assisting my husband with gutter-cleaning.....ah well....

Rosemary, I don't have pear trees but many, many other folks do and everyone seems to be more than happy to give away pears. Lucky for me.

Check Craig's List for produce. I found a lot of folks out there giving away apples last week. Free is a very good price.
