Hello to everyone. I have spent some time reading a number of the different forums and have learned a lot and look forward to sharing ideas and knowledge with everyone. My wife and I love the coast of Maine as as a result have created a seaside decor web store. www.seasidedecorllc.com (http://www.seasidedecorllc.com/). We welcome your ideas and comments.

A few of the furniture peices can be shipped UPS but most are by motor freight. Also looking into small truckers that can offer personal care and can handle shipments from Maine to the central east coast states.

You said I am having limited conversion success any thoughts would be helpful.

I do not know what you mean by "limited conversion success". Can you explain?

Welcome Mike!

This is a great forum...your site and items are nice! Where in Maine are you? I am in RI.

I would be interested in talking to you about shipping costs and what has worked for you. I have some larger pieces and I think that most people have shied away from purchasing due to cost of shipping.

I would love your advice! How long have you guys been in business?

Zuzu,

What I mean by conversion is that I am getting good response to the site from my marketing but are having problems getting the hits converted to sales.

Hi Mike,

This is something I did as a software test engineer and it is very effective. Ask a few people (who are not familiar with your web site) to navigate through your web site and make comments as you take written notes or video tape them. For example, I went to your Beach Scene Furniture page and I'm thinking a little more information would be helpful - I guess these are painted white wood (it doesn't say). Are the scenes handpainted, decopauged...? Using their comments, you can go through and update your site.

Another idea would be to include a customer testimony page. Comments about the quality of your products, great customer service, etc. can help.

:)

mike, are you trying to do this without a store? a place where they can come see you? thats sounds kind of hard on furniture..

our web works great in getting people to come to us....and once they are here every piece of paper has our web on it and we harvest every name who spends with us for our snail mailing list....

Hi Mike,
When you say say you are getting the hits-- How many is that-- My site gets from 500-700 hits a day-- we are very visible -- but in sales -- from those hits we get maybe 2-3 orders a day But we do get a lot of inquiries -- so people do come back and order but still are you visible enough.
As far as the site-- great ides and themes but I think your images could be bigger and more dramatic-- You need good teasers on the Home page to draw people in. I really didn't get a sense of your products on the Home page.. You have a lot of competition out there and you need to look more unique. Also Why are you more special than the next guy? Explain that in your headline.

Hi Mike.

I would be very interested in sending you some nautical pictures that I've painted. I have a website, listed below. None of my nautical pictures are currently listed, but will send you a sample if you are interested.

By the way, I love your cottage furniture!!
