i would like to refinish my bedroom furniture ,it is all wood and i previously painted it a hunter green a few years ago, i want a change of color and also id like to add height to the dresser and chest of drawers ,but im not sure how to go about it. I always see articles and segments on t.v. shows of how people restored old furniture to their likings, and it looks and sounds easy but im not sure how to do it . I want a destressed finish in a cream color . if anyone has done this or has suggestions please post them as i am looking for any ideas i can find thankyou:)

Since it's currently a dark color, you'll want to prime it. You may want to prime it twice. If you paint it a cream color and distress it with sandpaper, the green will show through and that sounds very pretty. If you don't want the green to show, you might consider distressing it with a dark stain. When applying the stain, rub it on with a cloth and immediately rub it mostly off. Focus on getting the stain into the corners of your project.
To add height, you could add a mirror or some artwork...
Hey, welcome by the way!:p

Thanks for the instruction.
But in the blog she is giving the steps to painting.
But my work schedules are very very busy, so i can't spend time in painting the my bedroom furniture (http://www.kmpfurniture.com/fire_collection/category/bedrooms_4.html) myself so i am looking for refurnishing painter.

I just clicked over to the romantichome link and ended up falling down the rabbit hole ... when I came up for air I realized I originally clicked on this link to help this person out with their furniture painting bonanza. I can respect a busy work schedule ... if I needed something painted, I would probably call a friend or ask someone at a paint shop if they wanted to make a little money on the side. However, if you want to do it on your own, you are going to need a space (preferably a garage or outdoor area), a dry day, and some elbow grease. Taking the furniture from dark green to cream is going to take a lot of coats of primer and paint. Are you sure you just don't want to sand the old paint off? How well is it sealed? I need a little more information. I do believe the easiest thing to do would be to prime it, paint it cream, and then sand it hoping to get some of the green out. Paint and Home Improvement stores sell destressing kits. I have been investigating them for the cabinet I bought at the auction about a month ago. In the meantime, very good luck.
Keep us posted. Welcome to cottage living!
Bye!
