Well I don't know about where you all live but it is in the low 60's here right now and expected to be in the 40's later tonight. Fall is HERE!!!
For months I have been talking about recovering my dining chairs. Well today was the start of fall project time. Two chairs are done, 4 to go. Though I have only enough of this fabric to do the 4 side chairs and am thinking about looking for a coral leather like fabric to do the arm chairs in. This way, when the grandkids visit they can use those chairs because I can just wipe the seats off!!! You'll notice the old fabric is pretty badly stained - grandkids and a husband who prefer to use my chair fabric instead of napkins!!!
I painted the table today after priming it yesterday. It is the same color as the pumpkin flower in the fabric - it is hard to tell but there are red, yellow, pumpkin, coral and 3 shades of green flowers. I am trying to tie in the various shades of peach and pumpkin in the kitchen, the red used throughout the main living area.
I am getting ready to repaint the living room and FINALLY getting around to slipcovers for my chairs in the living room.
The table is painted "cool lava" by Behr but still needs to be glazed to tone it down a bit. Look at the foot of the table to get a true idea of the color.
Okay - what's everyone else doing to get your home ready for fall? I WANT pictures!!!devious

Oooh! I love the painted table. Please post some more pictures when you're all finished. I'd also love to see your slipcovers. I'm so impressed with your talent.
I started a home staging business last week! I got my first client thru a realtor friend of mine. I've spent a lot hours lately putting this condo together. Get this: the carpet is a 1980's blue and the accent wall was painted orange. I neutralized everything by painting the wall a tan color, learned how to put together Ikea furniture and had fun buying accessories. I might really like this gig if I could make some money at it. ;)
Of course, my trailer is still falling apart and my basement is still dirty, but what the heck.

Cheapdiva~ Ohhhhh it going to be sooooo very nice when all pulled together! I love the color pumpkin, but never thought about putting it with red---can't wait to see more pics. And I also see the nice wood flooring, and the traditional wide floor moulding. It really must be such a lovely home....
Lisa~ Staging! I can see where you'd be perfect with this business~ and what fun too! I have done realty staging before, and it seems to be getting more and more popular here in the Washington area....

Gigi ~ how did you like staging as a job? This one was a lot of work and the owner got more than he paid for. To my benefit, I got some good pictures and the realtor invited me to go to the broker's open and pass out business cards.
If I can make this fly, it would be a fun way to make money. I'm constantly doing "research" anyway!;)

Hey Lisa~ I loved it. One was for a house being sold that was empty, one was for a home that was occupied.
Rule: Less is best---the empty house was easy- it was an old Victorian that was restored- ball jar with flowers, some white tins in the bathrooms, a few vintage items here and there... The other home was a duplex, 1940's- basically cleared out what I could- again some flowers in vases, etc... and tried to make everything appear crisp & clean...
I bet you'd be fabulous doing this! I wish you the best of luck. Staging seems to be getting BIGGER here...

I'll stage what ever comes my way and let the house dictate the direction I go for decorating. This one was not done in "my style", but it was a 1970 - 1980's condo...
LisaJ ~ I love, love love your dining room. I'd come over every day for coffee and sit at that table if Nebraska was within walking distance! Welcome!

well, it's getting dark earlier here but it's still hot and humid, so no official signs of fall yet. we still have tomatoes going like crazy, tons of basil, etc. our fall project plans involve dh finally finishing the dog run, completing drip irrigation installation, mulching, re-doing deck (maybe adding pergola), redo-ing rail on front porch, painting crawl space and inside of window sashes, and planting shrubs (winter). i would also like to set up an outdoor fire bowl. inside, we would like to finish building storage cabinets in our bedroom, do the same in guest room, clear out clutter and organize, add rugs, curtains, pillows, etc to living room, paint dog room, find bar stools, and get an new entertainment center/shelving thing. whew, i'm already tired just looking at the list. our trim on our house is orange, so fall is when our house looks the best, so i'd at least like to get the painting and mulching done by halloween. or maybe after halloween since the crawl space is currently black? Hmmm, any thoughts on this?

CohenCottage - your to-do list is huge! Whew! Please include some pics if you can - would love to see your garden.
Lisa - I bookmarked this site a couple of years ago and visit from time to time:
Shelter Style (http://www.shelterstyle.com/) She offers some great ideas. I had a house under contract in 2001, moved out, and then the buyers changed their minds so we had to sell it empty. I put a huge live ivy plant on the fireplace mantel, and large vases with silk flowers in the kitchen and bathrooms, and left the potted plants on the decks - I don't know if this helped, but it sold three weeks later.
