Well fall is almost upon us, so thatmust mean many of us will be gearing up to get our homes ready with projects!

here is a list of my upcoming projects:

have a friend who is giving me her old antique round dining table - which I will paint (got the new PB catalog? check out the desk on the cover - think it will be that green;)). I have really disliked our rectangular one for some time.

recover the seats on the dining chairs

make new window treatments for dining room

paint dining room? maybe a salmon color?**;

paintliving room - a shade of pink

make slip covers for the wing chairs in the living room - finally!!!

make pillows for the living room.

I hope to have most of this done by October 1 as I have friends coming for the weekend and 2 of them have yet to see our "new" home (4 years of living here).

I hope to pick up the dining table this week and get to it this weekend. I will post before and after photos.

WHAT are the REST of you doing?? PLEASE pictures!!

cheapdiva, I love that green in the new PB catalog! I can't wait to see pics of the refinished table, it sounds like it will be gorgeous :)

I do have a few rainy day things to do as well. Most of the work is in the living room, which means I need to move ALL of the furniture out of there temporarily....not an easy feat in a <900 SF house. The original fir floors need to be refinished, and possibly a few boards replaced. Base moulding needs to be added, there is none now. We need to repaint the whole room, and fix some spots in the drywall that are damaged. The wood fireplace insert needs to be taken out, cleaned and repainted. We also need to re-tile the hearth, since some of the tiles are broken. I would also like to build a new mantle and add some built-in bookshelves around the fireplace. Lofty goals, I know :o

My mind is swimming with the possibilities!:o

Clean everything (the city has been ripping up our street and laying a new one and I have dust everywhere!)
I'd like to finish the inside of the camper
De-clutter my house
Rip out the ceilings in the basement, have an electrician put in canned lights, hang drywall
Re-arrange the kid's bedrooms
Hang some art
Buy a large cabinet for linens (and finally get new towels!!!)
Refinish furniture for the lake house
Go thru my house with a critical eye and decorate with candles, centerpieces, books, pillows... the finish stuff

Canned lights are those lights that are sunk into the ceiling and can be directed into areas. Some are little and some (from the 70's no doubt) are the size of industrial sized soup cans.:()

What is my projects for this late summer/early fall.

Where does one start on these things?!!!!

We are aiming to get the garage painted. Even if it is the one side that has all the weather damage we would be ahead of the game. I would also like ot replace the windows on that side with some that I got out of a dumpster. :o

Get the side yard done. This involves finishing the path next to the sidewalk (those people back then had narrow hips!!!) and I would like to make the garden boxes for next to the path. I still have loads of lumber left over from the ramp we dismantled so I'm only out the screws and time. These boxes are very important now because of the HUGE project slated for next year. Doubt tomatoes appreciate backhoes running over them.

Move some rose bushes. They are still alive but I just don't think they are doing well over on the side of the fence. As much as I liked the idea of a row of rose shrubs between me and the neighbors. I have also given up trying to get flowers to grow up front between the roses and the iris' so I'll just have the row of roses up there. Will have to find some more Russian sage to plant inbetween and maybe shake some blue flax seeds there too.

Hopefully finish the trim on the front of the house. Now that porch is making the roof trim look bad. This is what I get for completing a task. And maybe by then we'll have purchased an extension ladder.

Laugh at the neighbors pathetic excuse of a privacy fence. I'd hoped for 6 foot cedar planks between us but guess I'll have to deal with the chainlink inserts and a 4foot fence. ;)

Usual trying to get the house cleaned up and organized. That never seems to stop. :{

I'm going to finish my quilt so my bed will have a decent covering. I was able to get some quilt batting for free so I just need to sit down and do it!

Some way, somehow, we are going to buy new insulation for the attic... what's up there now is over 50 years old!

I've got to figure out something for my office - it's way too cluttered with everything I'm bringing home from "old job". Tomorrow is the last day ever for this print shop and we're salvaging as much as possible, which means I now have a collection of paper and envelopes stacked everywhere! Right now my office is about 10'x14' and is housing all the sewing, Mary Kay, and paper products!!!:()

Autumn, you won't be sorry about the insulation. In the long run, it will save you much more than it costs.

I wish I could quilt. I'd love to see a picture of it when you're done.

Good Morning Everyone, :)

Cheap Diva, what is PB catalog?

Hubby and I are almost done painting the exterior of our house. It has only taken a year to do so. The weather just was not in our favor. Plus we had started this project late last June.

Our daughter`s room is almost finished. We had some bad paint and had to sand the darn walls, then primer them before we could repaint. I just have a second coat of paint for the trim, and that is done. Hubby is helping me hang the borders later in the day. We are putting a wood floor down, but that has to wait for now.

We purchased dark gray slate tile for the front porch entry. It was cement. So that project will be next. Then I want french doors to replace the sliders. I hate them. I have more ideas than money and time. Don`t we all. :)

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hugs,
Linda :)

I added a couple of projects to my list. This is what happens when you to Wal-mart alone. :p

They have a clearance going on the pavers and edgers so I found some scallopped edgers for the front flower bed. I only bought 4 of them just to see what it would look like and if I'd be up for it, plus to get an idea of how many I'll need. So back to Wally world for 10 more plus 2-3 round edgers. I also needed something to lead from the deck steps to the outdoor carpet next to the pool. Looked at the 16" pavers and while I love the look of the brick impression ones I had to just rein myself in and got the plain jane version. At a buck a piece that isn't a bad thing. Especially since I only need 4 (I think).

My lawn is nonexistant over there so dead weed leaves etc were getting tracked into the pool. They also had some colored playsand on clearance so I got some of that too. A blue for between the pavers and then my dd talked me into two bags for her to play with and put in her sand turtle. And the yard work just keeps coming. :o

Linda - Pottery Barn. Check out the desk on the cover, that is one color I am thinking about for the table. I am also considering a salmon color. Sold the old table today on Craig's List - was gone in 5 minutes from posting time!!!! Now have $$$$ to go buy more fabric and paint!!!

We have an empty dining room with 6 chairs in it - which have to be recovered also. Have had that fabric for over 6 months and am now not sure it will work with what I have in mind - but no matter, I have plenty of other fabric!!

Gigi - yes, make my pillows, window treatments and slipcovers. Will be doing some really fun pillows. Will post pictures. Even thinking about trying to sell
custom pillows - you supply fabric and I'll do the style you want. We'll see!!

Watch for photos starting next week . . . have to pick up "new" old table - but have to get our car back on Monday - it's in the shop having the frame straightened from when it got hit by a city snow plow last Dec. 5th. Yes, I said Dec. 5th - over $1,000 worth of work and we probably won't get the city to pay for it :(:mad::{

Good Evening Everyone, :)

Cheap Diva ~ thank you for letting me know what PB stood for. I liked the desk on the front cover, but the thought of Salmon sounds really nice too!
I like color. If you decide to use the Salmon, I would love to see the finished project.

Good luck with trying to get reimbursed for the damages on your car. Did you get an accident report filed at the time it occurred? You may have to collect thru Small Claims. I hope they take responsibility, and pay you for the damages.

Good night all.

Hugs,
Linda :)

My then boyfriend had his car ran into by a garbage truck once and even though they left paint evidence they still said it wasn't them. Like anyone else has a vehicle painted that shade of blue! Good luck getting the city to pay up, sad how people or entities won't take responsibility for their actions.

Any project pics yet?

I'm stillllll painting the outside of the little house we're building. Sanding, caulking, primer, and two coats of paint. Can't wait for it to be done!

I started stacking the woodpile. I must be part squirrel - I can hear them out in the forest knocking pine cones off the spruce trees to prepare for winter, and it gets me moving to stack the woodpile. :p

We're preparing for a major inspection (hopefully this week - fingers crossed). The inspectors will be checking out our off-grid electric system, inside vent & water supply plumbing, inside electrical, and inside gas line. We are slow, but someday this little house will be done!

How are you all doing with your projects?

Zu

the plow driver admitted to hitting our car and we did get estimates on the damage and it took the city 5 months to pay. Then we took the car in for a tune up late spring and were told that our 2 rear tires needed to be replaced - well we bought 4 new tires in January - 70,000 mile tires!! Upon closer inspection, the mechanic discovered that the frame was bent - which he said would have been caused by our car being hit from behind. Which is exactly what happened.

So we had to take the car to a special shop to have the frame fixed and then had to replace the 2 rear tires because there was no tread left on the outside of the tires from overcompensating for the bend in the frame.

Now we have to refile a claim but my guess is that the city is going to say the frame should have been caught at the time of the original claim. HOWEVER, even the guys at the frame shop said, most mechanics would not have caught this and because it only looked like moderate damage to the body, no one would have thought to look at the frame.

We'll see, but my guess is like so many things - we'll be screwed by the city on this!!!!
