So many of us bemoan the fact that we aren't physically closer so that we could actually meet. This summer I was lucky enough to meet Ms. Memmey and spend a whole day with her. You can't help but fall in love with her. So I would like us to have that kind of experience - getting to know each other better.

Do any of you have any interest in actually meeting? Here's my thought -
we pick a city that is fairly central and easy to reach by plane, train, auto an hook up for a weekend. Everyone arrives on Friday and leaves on Sunday. There are many sites that offer home rentals where meals could be cooked and eaten together (keeping the cost down).

I think with enough prep time we can keep cost down and have a great weekend. Price would be determined by how many want to go and what we could rent. But my plan would to be a price range of $125 - 175 per person for housing and meals for the weekend. Transportation is not included.

My suggestion would be for late next winter - mid to late March. This give everyone time to save up, book tickets, etc. I have done this MANY times with other girlfriends and we always have a ball. Just want to see if anyone would be interested.

Some ideas of where we might meet; Las Vegas (have the perfect house in mind if we get between 8 - 10), Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City (mid-country) even the New Orleans area!

I'm open to suggestions! Let me know your thoughts.

I would love it! Count me in. I'll go any where and would love to go somewhere new, but here is another suggestion:

This is my old home town in Wisconsin. Johnny Depp just filmed a movie there. It's just 20 miles south of Madison. Check out the pictures of the downtown area. Full of antique shops!http://www.cityofcolumbuswi.com/default.asp

I stayed at a beautiful B and B when I visited last. I bet we could get a group rate especially in the off season. The woman who owns the place is very kind. I have a feeling she would go out of her way to make us welcome. BTW, this house used to be my doctor's office in the 1970's and is a replica of the house we owned while we lived there.

P.S. Amtrak stops right in town.

My apologies for interrupting your thread.

Hi Lisa S. Would you possibly check the E-mail address you have listed under the User CP link. Click the link near the upper left of the page, then "edit details, then edit E-mail. I'm getting a bounce alert. I'd send you a private message, but those are bouncing as well.

Many thanks
Rex

Gigi, you're just like my mom. She won't fly at all anymore. Amtrak is a pretty fun way to travel...

Really only 20 miles-----:D:rolleyes:**;:D:D:D--- 20 miles is nothing!

I actually have been to LA before- about 15 years ago- went with a friend to drop kids off at nearby space camp.

And oh- my husband went on a business trip to LA and came back ranting and raving about Mardi Gras----HAH--- it was the funniest thing because it wasn't mardi Gras time-that's how much fun it was for him to visit on "business".

Okay - who's serious about a community get-together? If you want "in" send me a pm with 2 suggested destinations. I'll keep everyone who is interested in the loop and we'll try to narrow it down that way.

I'm thinking late spring because that would give us all time to save up. I'll have more ideas for those of you who send me a pm.

By the way . . . where the heck is everyone? It is eerily quiet in here these days.
