This is such a great forum! I hope more of the guests will sign up to post their questions and give advice. This is the best place I have found to discuss decorating things with "Girlfriends" from all over the place. Join in the fun everyone!!

Me too! I'm so grateful for the advice I've received here. I only have one friend in my area who is interested in decorating, and we're both beginners.

Hi all! I have been a "member" for a bit but only lurked now and again. I finally broke down and subscribed to the magazine (yes, I am a magazine addict!). Can't wait to get to know you all.

Hi little daughter,
I am so glad that you insisted I join this forum. What fun! Isn't it nice to know that there are other magazineaholics? I think you and I probably take the cake.
Don't you think they had a great idea re/everyone going to one house and all helping to make a dream come true? What a great article that would make in the Cottage Living Magazine. And.....don't you think that the "Vintage" gals should have the pleasure of hosting it first. He He I am so "vintage" it amazes me that I can still sand and paint. But I am doing it with great pleasure! You are such an inspiration. I love your energy. Also, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this magazine. Most everything is lovely (except for those felt and glue pillows) I can do without them.

Hello Michelle,
Welcome to the forum! I "lurked" for awhile too before joining in. This is a great group, and one of the things I like is that we're ALL ages. I may be the oldest at 58....yet we all have the same love for cottage decor. Have fun!

Age is definately a state of mind!
I am a nester by nature! LOL I love beautiful things that are warm, welcoming and touchable. I guess my interests would be decorating, gardening, reading and sometimes (when the mood strikes) cooking ;) . Currently I am in search of unique and inexpensive items to warm up my front porch as the weather has turned to front porch sitting weather.

It means that you appreciate the finer things in life! Nothing beats swinging on a porch swing with a cool drink of somethin' in your hand.

Welcome, Welcome M'chelle,
You will love this bunch of neat ladies. They have such great ideas and they encourage you to take the big leap when you are in doubt about decorating ideas.
Good grief it would seem I am the oldest so far. Sixty five....sometimes I love being older - I love the contentment that comes with age, acceptance of what life has offered me, a fantastic family with many (23) grandchildren, a great love and appreciation for all people and ....and not too old to look forward to new adventures. I hate being older when - I look in the mirror and no amount of makeup can change that face that is looking back at me. Got to learn to love those wrinkles. I love the fact that my husbands eyes aren't what they used to be and so he sees me looking much better than what I really am. Actually, I prefer the wrinkles to the plastic faces of Hollywood.
Ahhhh the romance of a porch swing. I think we need one.

I'm 41... and I think I'm beginning to learn what life is all about. I'm really lucky to have been born with the knowledge that family and loving people are the most important things in life. I'm just learning to become assertive, but not overbearing or too wimpy... to take some things seriously but realize that a clean house is not the path to happiness...
And I hear you about the wrinkles! Actually for me, a Polish girl, it's not so much the wrinkles, but the bags... I could do without that part of aging! It's hard to get over vanity...

Well, since we are sharing our ages I am 51, 52 in August. Everyone thinks I am crazy when I tell them that I loved turning 50! There was just something so freeing about that birthday. I have been pretty happy and content my whole life but more so since that momentus birthday almost 2 years ago.

I'm 47, from SE Michigan and my husband and I recently purchased a cottage on a inland lake. I'm having the time of my life decorating and fixing it up. In fact, I would much rather be there then at my full time home (we plan to move there when our youngest daughter (15) finish's high school. I bought the magazine which I now plan to subscribe to, which led me to this site. I'm very anxious to share my stories, get decorating tips, etc. :)

Welcome to the forum, Slycats! I'm in Fort Wayne, Indiana, just a hop, skip and a jump from Michigan. My grandparents lived on Lake George. Part of it is in Indiana and part in Michigan. Keep us posted on your progress and post pics.

I'm so glad the weather is warming up so I can get outside and start planting! One of our more urgent projects we wanted to tackle is replacing some rotten steps leading down to our deck. But we discovered some 'squatters' last weekend when my husband decided to start ripping them out-- a mother raccoon and her two babies-- made a nest right under the first step. Their so young their eyes weren't even open yet. Needless to say my daughter and I made him board it back up and delay the project. Which he's not to happy about :( . I'm hoping when they're a little older the mother will want to move them to a more private area on her own, otherwise I guess I'll have to call someone. I also just discovered we have a pair of swans that have settled in on the lake. Our neighbors aren't to thrilled though, they say they can get really aggressive. After living in a busy town, I just love all this wildlife :D . Keep ya posted... Slycats
