Sorry I had to remove the photo because there is not enough storage space on this site. :(
I recently saw this mini slipcover in the May issue Country Home magazine. This article is about Rachel Ashwell's (Shabby Chic) home and these were in her dinning room. My daughter and I fell in love with them and decided to try and copy them. We made a pattern by using newspaper to lay over the chairs and made the first one out of scrap fabric. Then we made the real one out of a soft white canvas fabric that we found for $3.99 a yard at 54" wide! The back of the skirt has ties that tie around the legs of the chair. We were pretty proud of ourselves. A whole new look for literally pennies. Let me know what you think? :p

Karin,
Love your slipcovers! I am impressed! That was a great article in Country Home... I wish I could sew. One of these days I will learn how to use my sewing machine!

The actual chair is one of 6 chairs that I bought at a thrift store about a year ago. I only paid $4.00 a piece for them. They were a pinkish color and had an ugly brocade on them. I painted them black, roughed them up and replaced the brocade with new red fabric that I stapled gunned on over new foam and batting.
I am excited to use my new white seat covers on them for totally new look. Love to find the deals!!
Kristen, You gotta learn to sew it is the best investment and you feel like you have accomplished something wonderful each time you make something

Karinbob,
That's a great look and just think...you can change them whenever you like! Have you ever slipcovered your sofa? I'm afraid to try it. I'm pretty good with pillows, totes and quilts, but I'm not sure I would even know where to begin on slipcovering my sofa and loveseat.

I have slip covered a bigger chair before and it was a lot work but worth it. There are so many patterns out there these days that would help a lot. I really want to slip cover my sofa too. Hopefully I can get up the gumption to start that soon. The more you sew the easier it is. I would look at some patterns or some books for how to's and then go for it!! Let us know what you decide to do. Karin

I loved those slipcovers too and plan on making some this summer for my chairs. I have old oak chairs with old leather seats that are not in good shape but instead of stapling fabric over them I want to do these kind of slipcovers that are easily washed. You could have so many cute looks with these. Christmas ones, summer and fall-the ideas are endless. So much to do-so little time.
