I used to frequently come here late at night, when I could not sleep. Have been so busy the last couple of months and using my late night hours to read but thought "what brings people here late at night?" since I notice there are currently 9 people here checking the site out.

So. . .

you lurkers - what brought you here and why don't you post something? This board is VERY quiet this summer but usually you'll find the old guard happy to share with you.

so if you are new - please join us. Tell us why you are here, what interest you, where you live (city and state are fine), what your interest are and feel free to ask questions of those of us who have been here awhile. What you'll find is that we all come back together around fall, are yapping away through the holidays and winter and then when the weather finally gets warm we all drop off the face of the earth.

I implore you lurkers and late night visitors to step up to the challenge and tell us what you are doing here late into the night!!!

Me . . . I miss my CL buds and this is becoming my time to hook up with all of you!!!

I was thinking about our group here last night (in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep). It is awfully quiet. We need to stir things up ~ so new folks please join in!

I don't remember it being this bad last year, the only explanation I can come up with is that this year seems to have alot more major life changes going on. There are new homes, sick parents, gas crunch worries (which in theory should affect us here but it has seemed to affect everything), renovations, weddings, new grandbabies. We're a busy group this summer!:lol:

Late nighter? Yep, sounds like me. I peek in sometimes at 2 or 3 in the morning. I'll try not to be quiet so much. So much going on, some good, some not so good.

I'm usually always here during the day since the home internet is dial-up. I've been so busy I can't keep organized, and usually I am always organized!! I'm soooo ready for the weekend to get here so my sister's wedding will come and we'll all have a great time, and then my life can slow down again. Money is soooo tight right now. My husband doesn't understand why. I tried to explain that it was rising gas prices and the fact that his paycheck the last few months has been $100-$200 less than what we need to pay all the bills and have some left over for food! Our money is just plum run out. we aren't spending any unnecessary money... I'm just leaning heavily on the Lord to get us through!

I know just about everyone else is feeling money strain too and everyone is probably just as busy as I am... just wanted to let y'all know I'm still around!! Sometimes lately I just don't have anything to add to the discussion... sigh.

On a lighter note, I hope you all are having a great summer! I'd better start getting some work done now!

I just woke up to the sound of rolling thunder. It sounds so pretty and we don't usually get thunder and lightning, so it's a treat. Sure is hot in our non air conditionied house. It's definately summer tonight.

I'm writing in the morning..I'm an excellent sleeper most of the time.

The summer work schedule has me on 10 hour days, so I don't turn on the computer till weekends. I've been packing a chainsaw up steep hills in the heat, so when I get home all I want to do is eat, take a shower and fall into bed.

We've had thunderstorms every day this week, and that oppressive sultry heat. Smoke has filtered up here from the fires in California, and my fire gear is ready to go. I expect the phone to ring any time...

I'll eavesdrop on you night owls when I can.

Midnight is usually the latest I'm ever on here, and lately, I've been asleep by that time. I haven't been home much the last few weeks~just trying to help hubby with part of his job.

And sometimes when I get on, I just don't have anything that would add to any of the conversations~but I enjoy reading all of yours:)!

Wannabe~I hear ya on the money crunch. It's really tight around our house right now. If it was just gas, we could handle it, but the price of food is crazy right now!!! I hoped to grown quite a bit of food, but we've had so much rain and so many cloudy days, that my plants are pretty stunted at this time. I'm hoping they'll start producing sometime soon.

Hi from me!

I miss you all too. There have been a lot of things going on here - a lot of upsetting things, and so I've been tending to those. I don't mean to sound mysterious - I'm just not ready to talk yet. When I am, I promise I will!

Meanwhile, I agree about $ being such a worry these days. I love it - all the companies pass along the increases they are paying, to us. Where can we pass them?

I bought a plastic jug of orange juice and noticed that the size has shrunk, and the price has increased. I wonder if they still sell the frozen O.J. to which you add water?? That's what my Mom used when we were little.

I was just thinking of you yesterday ChapterTwo! Was going to come on and ask if anyone had heard from you. :)

When you are ready to talk or unload you know where we are. Until then know we're thinking of you.

Hi Kim, I think of you every time I see the little pressed flower picture and blue willow cup you sent. I noticed you were gone, and I'm glad you're back. Whatever's wrong, I hope it's finally getting better.

I know they still have cans of frozen juice concentrate. Sometimes it's even on sale so you can stock up.

I have been peeking in too and not posting. So...hello! I just finished doing some weed-eating. With all the rain and warm weather both plants and "weeds" are crazy big.

Wannabe, I think the price of many things has creeped up. Gas just gets most of the focus because it is a big ticket item we all use. Makes sense tho that the costs of all our other goods has gone up based on the gas prices sinces most things are trucked, trained and flown in.

Hopefully it will get better!

Happy July.

52 pages, 1546 members. Currently the only active and 26 guests. I just got back home, everyone else asleep, settled and went on the computer. Looking around me - this house is in reno mode again - can't quite handle going to sleep in this daunting mess. So reading your posts gives hope and inspiration to face another dawn 'actively'. ;)
