How is everyone doing with this freaky weather? I know that some have that nasty heat and Deb and I are looking at rain and clouds. Are you safe so far? We've had some flooding in my area but nothing like the midwest. One of my guys at work emailed us a pic of the jobsite and the snow falling. Yes snow! Beartooth Highway is still closed because of avalanches and betting this snow will affect them too.
Crazy, just crazy.

We had our first hail/possible tornado last night. Not much of a big deal for us, as usual it swung wide and missed us. Of course the weather guys were all excited. I know this is horrible but I'm hoping for a good hail or something to cause damage to my roof. I need it replaced badly on the garage. :o Think I'll have to bite the bullet and just buy the galvanized metal and install over the asphalt shingles. I really wish I had seen that roof before I bought the place, and how in the world did my guy miss that?!

My power went out last night from about 9pm, 9:30 to 2am. I had been sitting in bed reading when-- CLICK!-- I was suddenly sitting in darkness.
It was a pretty big tipoff to just go to bed early. :)

I turned on the heat last night and unpacked a few blankets.

It's been crazy hot here with no rain for weeks. Actually it rained a bit (not enough to soak through my mulch) last night and has been thundering and threatening tonight. It is supposed to cool off into the upper 80s this weekend, so maybe it will be bearable to be outside.
My summer gardening plans have turned from new plantings to survival mode and it's only June! I think our new plan is to plant veggies in our empty raised beds and maybe some native vines on the new fence.

We had snow on the ground Tuesday morning. I think it's the start of the next Ice Age. Lots of rain and wind too.
I'm ready to put away my woollies, but they still feel good. My tomatoes are snugly tucked into their Wall-O-Waters, and the peppers and basils are hunkered in cut-off 2 liter bottles. And the cats are still my buddies at bedtime, seeking heat.
I feel sorry for the two young men who came up from Louisiana to work on the Forest Service fire crew. I'm sure they're shivering and wondering what they've gotten themselves into!

We finally had a break in our weather yesterday afternoon. The clouds parted, the sun beamed through and I swear, you could hear a choir of angles! I wondered what was making me so crabby and realized after the sun came out that it was the (bad) weather. I'm happy, happy and ready to go mow the lawn. Deb ~ I hope the sunshine is heading in your direction next.

A lady here said that Great Falls got 7" of snow Wednesday. I've never been so glad to not live there! Today is supposed to be the start of the warm weather, we'll see. Sunny out there but the wind is still blowing. I'm so blasted sick of wind!! Cold and rainy, sure they're a bummer but add wind and it is just sucky!!!!

Sun's out today, not a cloud in the sky, and the wind isn't blowing very much. Keep your fingers crossed...and send good thoughts to all those people in the Midwest.

Crazy weather in Maryland. Last week tornadoes, power out, hard rain, 100 degree temps. Twenty years ago, tornadoes were only in the west, etc...
But in the scheme of things, I can do without power for awhile, and 100 degree temps.~ :o
