Hi Everyone! New here! Need some help in the laundry room. I have a rather large space- and need a table or something to be able to fold the clothes on and have some storage underneath. I can't seem to find a table at the right height and would like something cottage style. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Tara,

First Q that comes to mind is how tall are you? Are the tables you've looked at too high or too low?

You could always make your own table.

Idea #1: Go to a local hardware store (they have table legs). Buy an old door. Attach the legs (adjusted to the height that works for you). Maybe attach some sliding baskets underneath for additional storage? The hardware store can help you w/ cutting & materials.

Idea #2: Buy a couple 2 drawer cabinets (new or used) like old kitchen cabinets or new unfinished wood cabinets. Go w/ the door table top again.

:)

Zuzu,

I am a real estate agent, would MMP be a place for me to become a member, or is it for businesses that deal in furniture, crafts etc.?

Also, are you digging out from all the snow? Colorado is getting pounded. I am glad we went skiing at the end of February. We had great skiing and weather! My Uncle lives in Castle Rock, CO and is digging out! I hope some nice spring weather comes your way soon!

Hi Kristen,

Good question! I don't know the answer, but you can contact them to ask.

Thanks for asking about our snow...yes, we were pounded!!! The wind blew it around so that it varies from 6" to 2'. I shovel for awhile...I rest for awhile. We hope to be dug out by tomorrow, but our driveway is 200' and we're doing it by hand.

We should be in great shape for spring!

Good Luck Zuzu! In NH I still have a small mound of snow in my front yard so heck knows when that will melt. I used to live in Colorado when I was first married and I can remember getting these Spring storms just when the tulips were blooming. But it used to melt fast out there.

Hi Chris - The snow 'knows' not to melt until I finish shoveling.

Hi Tara - What's the latest on your laundry room table?

I saw the cutest table in a little shop near here. It was an old 6 panel door with legs attached on it with a sheet of glass on top to make a smooth surface. The door was really well worn with several colors of paint showing through and under the glass they had put some vintage postcards. The legs looked like any you could buy at Home Depot and you could get just the height you need. Besides vintage postcards you could put pictures or kids artwork or so many things. It looked like something that could be easily made.

Hi ladies! Thanks so much for the great ideas:) Hubby conveniently got sick over the weekend- so no trip to Home Depot yet-LOL. The projects are never ending around our house, I think he is worn out! We just put up wallpaper in our bedroom sitting room- It came out nice - except hubby says "it's really flowery" Poor guy, he's surrounded by all things chic and romantic!! I will try to post picture here, but don't know how- maybe you can help me!

I built a table in the corner of our laundry room with a sheet of 1/2 inch birch plywood and a 2x4. The corregated tin panel might be a bit rustic for some, but you could always use something like bead-board. The door above the table is a retrofit homemade laundry shoot. You can't imagine how much easier it is getting laundry into the basement laundry room without having to carry it down the stairs. And yes, I'm a guy that actually does an equal share of the laundry. ;) The color is a bit drab, so my wife and I are arguing, oops, I mean debating, about which bright color to paint the room.

I vote for Apple Green. I love it with black and white.

I love light apple green... or maybe a buttery yellow. Not sure what colors are in the rest rest of your house. Of course... I love pale pink with black, but not sure if that's a good look for a laundry room!
