Hi Everyone!
I just received my third issue of Cottage Living and decided to check out the website. I was delighted to find a message forum to meet other Cottage Living Fans and to share ideas.
I love this magazine... it's my absolute favorite and I have been subscribing to many magazines similar to Cottage Living for years!
Just wanted to say hello!

Hi Chris...
Thanks for the welcome. I am from Indianapolis, IN.
Right now we are planning on re-working a large flower bed in the back of the property and then clearing out an area for growing pumpkins and squashes. How about you... any plans in the works?

I re-did my kitchen 2 summers ago and we did our family room last fall. Last summer we did many renovations in our cottage in Maine-it's the picture in my avatar. We plan on doing some more up there this summer. Other than that my daughter is getting married in July so there is a definite lack of cash right now so no big projects for us.

I know you will love the Cottage living forum! Everyone is so nice and has really great ideas. I was working on re-painting my kitchen cupboards and I was able to post some "before" and "in the process" pictures of my kitchen and every one was so helpful and motivating that I was able to keep going and finally finished my project! I love the results. I posted my pictures under House Proud forum. I would love to see any of your projects that you are working on. :D Have fun. K
P.S. I too am a magazine freak!! I can't get enough of them. :p

I don't have a picture of my house that I live in right now to post but I have a picture of our house in Maine with some of the view. We spend a lot of the summer there.

Wow! What a peaceful looking home. It looks like whoever planted the tree on the right knew exactly how perfect it would look when it matured. Simply beautiful!

What a beautiful home! I LOVE the view! You must absolutely love spending time there! I think you have a Cottage Living Home that needs to be featured in the magazine!

Well, the outside is picture perfect and the inside is getting there but not quite up to a magazine spread-yet. I am working on getting some better furniture in there. I did do quilts for some of the beds last year and am going to do some more this year. But the furniture has seen better days. It was my husband's grandparents retirement home so we still have their furniture. Some of it is nice like the fantastic windsor chairs in the dining area but the couch is horrible. His grandmother planted that maple tree in just the right spot so we still have the view when you sit at the kitchen table but you get some shade too, not that the hot sun is much of a problem up there. Sure wish we could afford to run to Maine Cottage Furniture and go on a spending spree!! Someday.

We rented it to a lobsterman for the winter so I am anxious to get up there the first of June when he moves out. I work at a college so I am off in June and July so I love going there. But we do rent it out quite a bit too to help with the taxes. In a perfect world I'd live there half of the year. Someday.

hi, Chris,
I realize this thread has been up for while, but since I'm new I've just seen your wonderful Maine cottage~I'd have a hard imagining a prettier setting for your summer home :) ~the setting & the home are just perfect together!

It is a nice setting. I can feel myself breathing a sigh of relief every time I go there. I sleep like a baby there too. We are going up soon to clean up and get ready for the summer. Family uses it mostly but we also rent it a week at a time to friends.
