View Full Version : Odd Posts on Cottage Living

Hi Rex - Is there a way we can delete posts like the one beginning with the title "Xmas sales" in the Other Topics section? I'm just afraid it'll become a dumping ground for anyone selling anything. Also, it seems odd to me that there have been several questions about social security. Can't imagine someone seeking out this site to ask a question about that. Just curious...
Tnx!

I delete those spam message as quickly as possible and ban the users. We've had much less spam lately because of some security upgrades, but some unscrupulous users still get through. If you see any spam posts, click on the symbol that looks like the yield sign (http://community.cottageliving.com/images/buttons/report.gif) in the upper right of the thread to report the post and I'll take it down as quickly as possible.
FYI, the social security number posts are an attempt to get ssn's matched up with a full name and e-mail address. Don't ever post personal information via any public forum.
Thanks and I appreciate your positive posts on the forums. All our wonderful users far outweigh the spammers.

Thanks so much for the info about the yield sign; I had no clue!
Also I appreciate knowing that about the social security numbers - we have to constantly be on our toes nowadays.
It's a pleasure to be here; I've found so many nice people!

you've missed all the really fun ones. Last year I swear I was reporting someone to Rex at least once a month for some doozies. Let me see here, drugs, animal sex, music are just a few of them. Sort of like a bad college movie. devious

Oh, my goodness! I'm glad I missed them!
It's amazing that they target a site like this. But maybe they figure they'll find people who will be willingly duped into things. I am wiser now too!

the best thing to do is just ignore them and report them to Rex. A couple of the girls tried to tell them off before but you know the spammers will never be in here again so it would be like running into a wall for nothing better to do.:o

Yup, I see that's true! As much as I'm savvy about a lot of things, I guess I will never understand why people do evil things. It's hard to imagine, when you're not that way. I always try to help people, not to hurt them! It's a wacky world...

Animal sex? Watching or participating? What are people thinking?
