Dear Rex,
Since you were so kind to fix the calendar in such a hurry, I wonder if there's any hope that there could be a chat room for the ladies?
There are such warm and wonderful people here, and we'd really enjoy getting together from time to time.
If you can do this, fine...and if you can't - that's okay too!
Thanks so much, either way. :)

Kim,
Unfortunately, our Vbulletin software doesn't support chat rooms. There's been so little call for chat rooms the last few years that the feature was removed with the current version. My apologies, chat rooms have just fallen out of favor.
Vbulletin has announced a blogging module for the bulletin boards to allow users to create their own blogs. I see that many users have their own blogs and Web sites, so it may not be needed, but it's an option.

Thank you for responding Admin. I would LOVE a chat room here. I know others have voiced they would too. Hey please don't add that Blog thing. I went to a wonderful gardening site for years and they took out the chat room and added the blog. So many folks have left that site. I did but came here so I think it was a blessing in disguise.

Yesterday I was bored and went to Country Living's site and I was amazed that they did not have an active group there communicating. If they did it did not seem like it to me. It was hard to navigate and I couldn't find anything interesting to read about. I love that magazine and I know they enjoy a huge circulation but there was nothing like here .
I wonder why?
Rex , why did CL decide to have this forum for the readers? Did you have an idea behind it? Are there other magazines that have a forum format?
By the way it is one of the highlights of my day to log on and see what the girls here have to say. I know I've told you before but thank you for letting us be here.....Mem

Mem,
Like you I went to the County Living site recently because they had a blurb in this month's addition about the "new" site. Very hard to navigate and find a group that you could just jump in and feel at home with. CL has that all over everybody else!!!!
You know while CL might not offer a chat room, we could always do an instant message service and get hooked up. Then we set a day and time and anyone who wants to participate can log on.
AOL has their instant messaging service . . . or anyone have any suggestions? We could set a regular time like one evening a week for an hour were those that want to can participate? Any interest?

Yup, me too. I already have AOL so I have the AIM. The only problem is coordinating the time. I'm here on the East (and I think I'm in the minority) but I could work with your zone. I'm flexible! :D

I'm in the east coast as well. I don't have Aim or anything like that, but I guess it's not that difficult?? Let me know what's going on when you all decide.

I love all this interest in hanging out together. I have Yahoo Messanger. Why don't we do a planned chat here. The first chat room I ever went to was called Garden.com (it closed when all the .comers failed) but it was a wonderful community. We had a specific night where we had a Guest. Maybe Rex would love to field some questions one night. But we would accounce when we would met and the place was full! I think we could all chat here on the forums. Just check out the New Posts and go back and forth. I for one would love to try this. Thanks Cottage Living for listening to us. I can hardly wait until my subscription starts this month.
PS I go to Costal Living forum like this but its not very active. We have a great group!

I'd be happy to field questions. Yahoo does some great chats.
I created a Cottage chat at Userplane.com It's one of many free chat creators out there.
I'd suggest creating your own, perhaps at Yahoo or userplane and then agree on a time.

Rex,
So is there a time that we can set up when we can all meet here and you can fend questions and we can share? Maybe each week a specific time to all meet. Let's talk about all this and I did see the user chat room. Yes, maybe we can do a Cottage Living chat room for all to particapate. Thanks for your interest.

That sounds great. The only problem I foresee is the different time zones. When it's 9 pm in the East, the West might be having dinner at 6! And if it's 7 in the East, the ladies from the West might still be at work.
Suggestions?

I went to the site Rex initiated - and it was very easy. However you do get a lot of flashing messages at the bottom to join chats for "hot singles' - i'm neither!! If someone else wants to give this a go, send me a pm that you have joined and a day and time you want to chat, we'll see if this is a good solution.
I was at my mac computer lesson yesterday and found out how to set up one fairly easy through my mac account. I am also going to do this just because I don't think we'll get spammers or any advertising.
