Ohmy. I'm so excited to find these forums! I have no idea how I got here, but I am so glad. My name is Nelda and I live close to Portland, Oregon and I really thought I was one of few that had the 'collection' affliction.
I see there are many of us here and it's ok! I had no idea that people had stores with the same stuff I love. I'm a big flora and fauna type person. I haven't even read anything yet but wanted to introduce myself. I'm 59, married for 39 years (to the same guy-imagine..) and three grown kids who don't really want 'my stuff'. And I have alot of 'stuff'.
Nothing really valuable, but 'stuff'. Collections of every kind-doilies, gloves, anything garden and rustic, dishes, quilts, stuffed rabbits, aprons, costume jewelry, floral paintings, linens, tablerunners, (I should stop you get the idea) but I have decided I have too much stuff, thanks to great-great-great Aunt Eva, my mother, grandmother, husband's mother, etc. I feel like I'm the caretaker and the kids don't want the ceramic cat collection or the 100 fancy hankerchiefs or the bronze baby shoe lamp.
So, I think I shall get encouragement here to maybe find new homes for some of my things. I cannot bear to garage sale them but want my collection of clip earrings to go to someone who loves them. That kind of stuff.
:D I'm sure this is a great community and hope to fit in.
