Okay, we have talked about favorite items and finds and I want to share this. My friend is getting married (again) next month and is giving away much of what she owns. After her last divorce (2 years ago), she bought mostly new things for her new home. Now she is marrying a man who is letting her redecorate his home (which is good because he has little taste) and she is starting pretty fresh.

I visited her a couple of weeks ago and came home with a small table and bench but didn't think I could take this piece. After moving things around in my home I have a "new" sitting area in my liviing room and the hutch would be perfect. So I thought I could rent a small trailer and bring it home after her wedding (she's in Chicago, I'm in Milwaukee). I called her to say I wanted it and she tells me it comes apart in two - it will fit in my Sante Fe!!!!

I may paint it (red!) and then rub off some of the paint to reveal the soft yellow color (somewhere between creamy white and pale yellow) because my liviing room walls are almost the same color.

Okay - let's start sharing pictures and stories!!!!

That is a great looking hutch! I'm sure you'll be able to fit it in perfectly in your home without trying too hard! I saw a pic of one on a blog--wish I could remember which one:confused: --and they had painted it red and distressed it and it looked terrific:) .

Very cute and eve cuter painted red. What will you put in it?

I will post a picture of the corner it is going into at some point this weekend. Need to find an extension cord to plug in the light there - it's too dark right now. Old homes, lots of character - no outlets!!!

It will be my little cozy, reading nook.

Well that looks like it could have been a fixture in an old store??? Would you call that a Hosier cabinet? Wonder what the little glass doors at the bottom were for....I love it very much and could so see that in my house:D :D :D

359 The rattan furniture was a give away! We didn't have to move it far because my sister-in-law at the time was moving, and she lived on the block behind us at the time. She didn't have room at her new home (boo-hoo) It was natural color, and we painted it a sage green. The cushions need to be replaced this year, so that is a project I will begin soon....

Oh my gosh, I don't even need to go inside your house to know how beautiful it is. Look at the view from your front porch. I really like the long sloping lawn and the trees. That's not easy to come by in your neck of the woods.

You totally lucked out on the furniture. I'd sit out there with my coffee everyday. How do you get any work done? And your side porch! I'd throw parties out there.

Good grief, you gotta 'nuff room for 4 subdivisions in your front yard! We're having a party at Gigi's.

You are right...lots, and lots of parties...in our younger days. Almost all the kids in the neighborhood had motor bikes, and would ride, and ride all around...and of course the go-karts. What a hoot it was at one time. Now I do spend a lot of time on my porch. The Maryland rolling hills are really beautiful. Come visit!

I think I could just come live on that porch! What a great place you have. I hope someday we can whip ours into shape--right now it needs lots of work.

Your yard is just great--you must love all the time you spend there.
