Planted knock out roses last year and are they a winner! Constant blooms--no care--for any of you who have tried them--do you have any suggestions for good companion plants?

What colors do you have cause I think they have new ones now. Aren't they so pretty and HARDY.

I had never heard of Knock Out roses before. Googled them! I do have a couple of shrub roses and the red one (resembles the knock out) has never gotten black spot, nor has another called Theresa Bunget (I think). Shrub roses are hardier than the others and I appreciate that.

Tomorrow I'm planting some garlic under my climbing Don Juan to try and stave off the black spot it always gets. Think I'll dust it with sulphur, too as the British web sit recommended it as well.

boyo did you miss my post last fall. I just planted something like 20 knockout roses around the perimeter of my yard. I hope they come out as good as the hype which should be the case. I saw somewhere where the homeowner plants catnip or lavender with their roses, makes for a very pretty look. I think something bushy would be a good thing, maybe baby's breath?

Memmy--my knock out roses are deep pink--I HAVE considered putting an annual that I discovered last year with them--it's called Black and Blue Salvia--Blooms are two shades of blue--one almost black, it's so dark--humming birds love it by the way--I will definitely have it SOMEWHERE in my garden this year!

Love it - spring has arrived early (very early for us) this year and seeing this photo made my heart skip a beat. Can't wait to go play in the dirt.

Beautiful plants. What's the georgous wood behind them?

I love Salvia--I plant it every year and it looks pretty all summer.

I guess I'm going to have to buy some Knock Out roses! That's a great idea about the lavender and catnip planted with them, Tanya. I have loads of catnip. Enough to use it as filler in some blank spaces I have. I'm even considering planting it around my fences instead of catmint or chicory. It seems to take over anywhere I put it so I'm thinking it might choke out the grass.

So can we count on seeing some wonderful rose photos this summer? It sounds like you all have such great plans and color combinations.
