Thanks guys! The table is the one that I traded my mother-in-law for. It was the one my husband sat at when he was a kid, which makes me love it all the more.

From our backyard, it doesn't look like we live on one of the busiest streets in town does it? Notice no front yard pictures!!!

Thank you! It's a bridge to the kid's play structure. My hubby, eldest son and I built it last year. Very fun.

Funny you should say that... my husband and I eloped after knowing each other for two weeks. This year is our 16th anniversary and we're thinking of having a ceremony with our friends and family in the backyard.

Every year on the 4th of July, we invite 6 or 7 families over. Everybody pitches a tent and stays for the weekend. My husband borrows a projector from work and we make a big screen with a sheet and some plywood and have a "walk in movie". Kids get dirty playing in the forest, parents take turns bbq-ing and catching up with each other. It's fun!

We also love to play hide-n-go-seek in the dark in the forest. We play almost every weekend in the summer and fall. It's scary and thrilling! You can see the bats flying overhead.

Lisa~ really how romantic, only knowing each other for two weeks and you were married...and for 16 years! Gosh- you have the most beautiful setting to have a fabulous ceremony. And the 4th of July parties sound like such a hoot~ tradition, nothing like it. It is what bonds the family, the friends, it makes memories for a life time. Okay- now for the hide & seek in the forest...   something a movie is made of, I love to write...and it could be a spooky thriller! How fun! :D

It was the most romantic time of my life! I had dated a lot and decided that I wasn't interested in getting married. I figured I had my dog and a house that I was renovating and I was perfectly happy. Then... my friends set me on a blind date with a jazz musician... I knew the minute we started talking that he was the one. And he really was!

You're right about tradition... I decided that it was too much work and I needed a break last year, so we didn't have our 4th party. It broke my 13 yr old's heart. I should have known that the work was worth it. It is...

Come play hide and seek! Or sit on the picnic bench and observe with a glass of wine.

I thought of this post today!

I was in the thrift store and I saw a woman with a chandelier like yours. I think she thought I was a nut when I went up to her and very enthusiastically started telling her about this project.:o :o .

I sincerely invite all of you over for the 4th of July. We would have a blast! I would hire my husband's old R and B band and we could boogie the weekend away!

Love, love, love that backyard!!! Looks like such a wonderful place for family dinners and playtime! And the chandalier is great!!! I've been working on a chandelier project for, I'm not kidding, over a year!!! Can't get it to work they way I wanted it, so now I'm going at it from a different direction. When I finish, I'll post. Love yours the best!

4th of July party? Sounds like so much fun! There's no way I could travel that far, but you gals have a great time!!! We'll be partying away at my parents...there are always lots of people. I may have to suggest the tent idea!!! The kids would love it!
