My name is Oney (rhymes with Toni). We've lived in our current house for almost 12 years and I'm ready to make it a home. ('Bout time, eh? )
It is a small house and I would like to make it more comfortable and cozy and I think a "cottage" decor would be perfect.
I'm here for inspiration and ideas. I look forward to getting to know you better.:)

Bout time we got another Northerner stuck in the snow belt. These southern ladies and their pretty flowers already up are making me antsy. need a fellow brown and/or white landscape. :D Well actually my primroses are blooming (huh, what?!!!) so I'm not far behind Memmey. LOL
hey bring us your questions. I'm about out of things to do around my house. You need something painted? I'm getting withdrawals already from that. I've even run out of floors to paint. :(

Hi friends,
Can you forgive me for being so long in replying? I couldn't remember how to get back here. I didn't have my settings to notify me with replies. (Now I do :D ). I found you again by doing a search for cottage blogs and up this site popped and low, and behold I realized I am a member here. I had to do a search for all posts by me to see what I had commented on. Sometimes I wonder where my brain is.
Anyhoo, thanks for the welcome.
Yesterday in the midst of getting my daughter ready for her last high school prom we tore the carpet out of the living room and school room (we homeschool our two youngest). Of course, that inspired me to look again at cottage interiors.
Our home was built in the early 1940's and needs some serious TLC. As I said in my first post I am ready to make it more of a home with some character instead of a place where this family happens to eat and sleep and make messes.
I've put this forum into my "Cottage" folder in my favorites. I'll be back much sooner next time. :)

Glad you are back, OneyJ--keep us updated on your house. BTW--I homeschooled both of our girls K-12!

How close in age are your daughters to each other, RoseMary? I always thought homeschooling would be all the more challenging if the ages of the kids were father apart, and wondered how it was handled.

My daughters are only 19 mos. apart, Jenn. They were 2 years apart in school. With only two, I didn't have much trouble keeping up with everything.
I've known people with several children that homeschooled and the older ones always helped the younger ones when the mom/teacher was helping one of the others. I'm sure it is more of a challenge, the more you have!

That's wonderful it was less multitasking for you-- and nice, I'm sure, for your daughters to have a sister so close in age. Especially now that they're older, I'm sure they must really appreciate it.

They are pretty close to each other. They room together in college. Now that our oldest is graduating in two weeks, I feel bad for the younger one being left there. She will graduate next year, so she keeps saying she only has 2 semesters to go and can stand whoever she gets for a roommate. I think they liked rooming together, because if they had any sort of problem with each other, they can just say what they think and not cause too big of a rift. With someone else, it is different.

Well, though I'm sure she'll miss her sister, it's possible your youngest will hit it lucky and get a roommate she really likes. I'm actually still really good friends with one of my college roommates from so many moons ago. So fingers crossed for her, she gets someone she can consider a friend, too.

Thanks, Jenn. I hope she does, too. She had a few roomates before her sister and they weren't very pleasant experiences for her. She is quiet and doesn't appreciate a lot of loud music or phone calls (for the roomate) at 3 a.m.! Of course, a lot of those party girls don't make it to their junior or senior year, so I think she has a better chance of getting a good one. She has a lot of friends, but most of them are moving off campus and that is not an option for her.

And she doesn't need the extra stress of having to deal with not getting enough sleep due to roommates overly-enthusiastic social lives/personal problems, when she's got studying to do. Hopefully you're right, and the ones who haven't buckled down to their studies will have been weeded out by now.
