our customers are loving our creations out of old parts....we are making counters from old doors, cabinets with old windows for doors..... big massive display shelves with 1880 headboards on the top.....potting benches with old sinks, old ceiling tin on about anything....
we save legs from old tables and remake new tables...harvest , kindergarden, coffee.....
is anyone else having fun with this? our customers are really responding ....im always looking for more ideas or sites about rehabbed and recycled furniture......
the small stuff i stay away from....so much coming in from china so cheap, it would be hard to compete...

any ideas for me?

I love old birdcages as hanging plant holders on a porch. They would be pretty too if candles were lit in them. Also, I have framed some old magazine covers i.e. LIFE, etc... I put an old soap ad from the 40's (framed) in one of my guest bathrooms. The pic is of a relative, Paulette Goddard doing an ad for Lux soaps. She was an old movie star once married to Charlie Chaplin...:)

gigi, I do know the type of recycling you are talking about and I think it looks great. I especially love to see the old bed headboards or old gates used as a back to shelves. A unique and useful way to recycle and still enjoy the character of the object.

I like old birdcages, too, but they are quite pricey, at least here! I have one that I put my indoor plants in to keep the cat out of! I never thought of candles, but I think that would look pretty--great idea.

There is a place close by in Frederick, Maryland called Edwards & Edwards, it is a candie shoppe for people who have a vision to recycle old items. I could spend hours there browsing, unfolding, looking for that unique item that no one else may want. They always have old iron gates displayed outside, large old shutters, and doors. I am looking for just the right iron gate to put near the entrance of my front steps. I especially LOVE an old dresser, that are smaller than usual to use as an end table, or under a mirror in a hall, etc... Good gosh, it is sooooo much fun!!! :D

Oh yeah- Green Oak Antiques looks like a place I would love to spend hours in! Another recycle item I use is old planters, tea cups for candle holders.
