OK, just so Zuzu doesn't have to be loney! In my early 40's I retired from being a radio DJ to start my little business. I invented a special draft stopper design that works better, can be customized and is also washable. I also make quilts, bears and rag dolls from peoples' old clothes, usually baby clothes or clothes from a deceased loved one. An my 3rd line is dolls, right now Red Hat ladies plus a few fun ones when I become inspired. My business is 100% on the internet.

When I first started, I offered every single thing that I know how to do! Pillows, drapes, costumes, prom & bridal, casual wear, novelty lingerie, Christmas Stockings, bears, tote bags, handmade paper items, and on & on. Eventually it distilled itself down to the things that sell well and that I enjoy making.

I still do the handmade paper as a hobby. I'm also a Certified Master Gardener. My son John, who's 20, lives in a 4-bed group home for autistic men and they build birdhouses for a living. I live in a big old house with my domestic partner Steve and our 4 cats.

Ha-ha. Thanks, Kathy Ann. I was starting to feel like I showed up for the party way too early.

Wondering - how does one become a Master Gardener? Is that a degree?

Master Gardener is a program run by the county co-operative extensions of each state's university. The requirements are different in every county. Ours was 80 hours of class plus 80 hours of volunteer work. Huge time commitment but it was well worth it and I made loads of great friends.

Very cool. I've seen bumper stickers that say "Master Gardener". I wondered if they hosted garden tours, gave talks and offered advise in their communities.

I remember a post you started (Sept. maybe) about sharing our garden pics. Guess that is available with a search, but maybe you could ask Rex to add a permanent Garden forum under Cottage Style - there's one for decorating and food, but not one for gardening yet. And Spring is almost here!

I'd do it, but I've asked him for a million favors already. ;)

What do you think?
