I can definitely see why it's a favorite! Wish I had the $$ and the space to have them send me one of everything. Or just one of everything in wicker would be good. :D

I am happy to add to this list, but want to say that my favorite cottage-style furniture is antiques and handmade pieces. To me, true cottage-style is found in everyday objects that have been made with loving hands, or transformed into things of beauty by time.

If I were to buy new furniture, I would take a closer look at the Gustavian collection at Swedish Blonde (http://www.swedishblonde.com/). (It took me a minute to figure it out, but if you click on the text under each image, you can see a larger image.) I think the lines, colors and details are wonderful.

Here's another one. The prices aren't bad... but the ideas are free! I love the color scemes and the details on the trim. Not too difficult for a gal or guy with a coupla power tools.

A forum member pointed me in the direction of Mexican oilcloth for my little kids' eating area and I found this website:

www.myoilclothconnection.com

These designs are so cute! Especially the aprons and lunchbags. And here I thought vinyl tablecloths were a tacky last resort. A little bit expensive for my budget, but I'm inspired to try my own.

Zuzu...I happen to be a lover of swedish style too. If you aren't already familiar with it, here are a couple other sites featuring swedish furniture.

www.countryswedish.com
www.avolli.com

That's all I can think of for now!

Hi, I'm Tricia Mitchell, owner of Avolli-Scandinavian Antique Furniture. When reviewing my website stats for yesterday I was surprised to see that a visitor had come from a link with Cottage Living. While excited, yet perplexed, I visited the Cottage Living site and found this wonderful Forum (which I never knew existed) and your recommendation for my site. I'm thrilled that you were able to find avolli on this vast and amazing World Wide Web but even more thrilled that you liked what you saw enough to recommend others to visit.

Thanks again!

I'm glad that you weren't upset about me posting a link to your site. The items you carry on your website are exquisite. While true antiques are a bit out of my budget, they offer great inspiration and ideas for decorating.
I was in Maine this past summer, and can't wait to get back again. It is a truly beautiful place, though Michigan has a very similar landscape, and funny thing...we even have more lighthouses!

Thanks!

Hello Everyone! Tricia, welcome to the forum, and love your site! Gorgeous furniture and lighting!

I have a question about chandelier parts for anyone who might know about this....I am trying to make my own chandeliers from scratch, does anyone know where I would start to number one, find out how to make them, number two, get all of the parts that I will need......I did find someone on ebay for supplies, but is was to confusing to figure out what I would need. I also checked on Amazon for a how to book, and can't seem to find one! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Deb,

I'm sorry that I can't direct you to a website that might have chandelier parts that you need. Whenever I have a repair that needs to be done to one of my antique lighting fixtures, I'll take it to a local repair shop. If I come across something in the future I'll let you know.

Deb,
I'm trying the same thing. I too have seen so many cute items on Ebay that were made from lighting parts. I searched and finally decided to head to my local lighting store (Light World). I found a very nice salesman who helped me. I showed him some pics of what I wanted to do and he helped me pick out the parts I would need for that project. Ideally, I would like to use vintage/antique parts, but I thought I would practice with new parts until I knew exactly what to look for. You can also make wonderful candle holders and soap dishes from lamp parts.

Marilyn, thank you so much for the information! I did try calling a few places, but they didn't seem very helpful. That is a great idea to bring in some pictures to show them what we are thinking about!

Now, have you actually finished any yet? I would LOVE to see them! Also, is it very difficult to put together??

ps~ I LOVE your stuff!! :D
