Hi all! I enjoy reading the posts and since I love all things cottage here I am.:) My family and I live in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks in a small cottage in the Craftsman style constructed of native rock. We've lived in very large cities and now live in a small town and have found the slower pace and lifestyle is just what we wanted. I'm happy to have found this forum:)

Welcome Breezy and I can't wait to hear/see what your ideas and thoughts are.

I live in MT outside one of the biggest cities we have around here (which isn't that hard). I live in what I can only describe as a cottage bungalow that has a Wizard of Oz second story addition on it (they only did half the width of the house so looks like somebody lost a shed up there). I guess I do lean more towards cottage living and hope to have my front yard landscaped like an English cottage garden.

Thank you for the nice welcome Tanya! We moved into our cottage a year ago and although most of the renovation is complete there are still some things that need our attention. The cottage was built in 1927 so she's getting to be a little old lady now.:) I enjoy reading all the posts and love the pics. I will try to get some pics to post in the near future.

My bungled bungalow cottage is about the same age as yours. from the deed/records it was built in 1930 but I tend to think earlier. That is one of those winter vacation things to try to track down.

You're lucky, I've had mine for over 2yrs and still not close to finished. My parents come down to help every once in awhile but beyond that it is just my little girl and me to work on things and occassionally if my husband is home he'll participate, if I make him.

I'm still working on getting some pics of my house, I think alot of people think I'm making things up about the place but I swear every word is true. You couldn't make up that sort of thing. :D

Hi Tanya - I can believe any stories you have to tell about your cottage as I have a few of my own about this one.:p We were living in a different town (3 hr drive) while this was being renovated and we would come here to check up on things and all I can say is never take anyone's word for something as we found that out the hard way. We lived here for 6 wks with no kitchen sink:D but it could have been worse I'm sure. The whole idea was to have the house finished before we moved but that didn't happen haha. I'd love to see pics of your cottage and will try to get some taken of mine. Just hang in there cause in the end it's well worth the effort.:)

You'll have to check out the previous owner horror stories thread I started. I see that it has been moved to another page. We went without a shower or tub for about 6wks maybe longer. Instead we ran a garden hose to the basement and would literally hose off. Sadly that was the best water pressure we have had! :( Also blew out several hoses too, the warm water would soften the hose and then the pressure would blow it out. My floors were never so clean. :D

I post on here from work so at the moment I don't have a scanner to even scan in pics which is why I haven't posted anything. My daughter and I have been hounding my husband to get our home computer hooked up for various reasons and posting pics is one of them. He doesn't want to get into the storage sheds and get this stuff out and reorganize them so is dragging his feet BIG TIME!

Our next big project is the kitchen and we're both dreading it. I should hire someone to come in and give me some ideas on how to organize it to be more user friendly. The 70's/80's must have not been big on counter space either.

Welcome Breezy! Dying to see eventual pictures of both yours and Tanya's houses. No one warns you when you renovate these. Later was told that new construction is far cheaper than renovate and as you both know - a lot of flim flammers out there. Anyone can stick a sign on their truck and hire out. If only they worked as well as they talked.

Ours is also small town - we were total outsiders for quite a while. Neighbors avoided us for six months. 4yrs later - a new neighbor from Oregon bought in. Now we 'foreigners' (orig 200 miles north, same state) are fully accepted. Glad you came on board!
