Hi everybody. I can't believe I didn't know this forum existed until today. I run a small rug design studio and a couple of years ago I had a client ask me to create a rug similar to the blue and white striped rug in the movie "Something's Gotta Give".

Normally my business is creating Prairie/Craftsman wool hand-knotted and hand-tufted rugs to match a client's decor. But this client had a beach house theme.

The couple wanted a cotton flatweave rug of alternating blue and white stripes. For flatweave rugs, my manufacturer makes me order in lots of 10. I decided to go ahead and have ten made and figured I could sell the remaining 9 on Ebay. Surprise, surprise! I posted a picture on my website of the 9x12 cotton rug and sold out the remaining 9. I also had several people ask for other sizes.

So I occasionally have 10 made up and list them on the website. If you are interested, you can look at the webpage and I'll be happy to answer any questions.

ChynaElizabeth,
In a way I am stalking you. You had a link to here on American Bungalow in answer to a furniture question. So you brought me in. Thanks for opening a whole new world for me.

My aunt has a 2 flat on the shores of Lake Michigan and is decorating in this style. Between her and the happenstance success of the Beach House rugs, I am getting more involved. My wife is working on her Interior Design degree and finds this style more natural for her instincts where the Prairie/Craftsman/Bungalow is more of a natural for me. Opposites attract I guess - Rich deep colors of Prairie and light breezy colors of Cottage. I appreciate both for how they make me feel when done right.

Hey glad I could help. :) Maybe the Bungalow vs Cottage thing is a natural occurance my house is bungalow for the most part but my bedroom is going cottage fairly quickly. Two floors and two different styles. :D

You should try posting on the cottage industries area on here. Then you could put your website out there for us. You have one right? I seem to remember checking it out when over at the bungalow group.
