Here I am, about to make an offer on a 1926 cottage. Complete with NO back yard, tiny landscaped front yard (I'm loathe to tell you the lot size), just 4 1/2 rooms in 600 sq ft, all kinds of charm, arched doorways, hardwood floors, odd baseboards that defy description, original roofing  , probably a clawfoot tub (can't tell yet as it's encased in what?), ghastly modern refridgerator that you run into when you try to go into the kitchen (gotta go), old roses growing around the front miniature porch that grap and eat humans and dogs alike (old pic taken before roses)...I could go on...but I LOVE IT. It could be mine soon. I will need HELP if I do get it. I'll try to post a pic:

It's absolutely darling!Thank you Lucille. I appreciate the thought.
Looks like everyone else is into multi-thousand dollar homes. My very modest REAL cottage is obviously not up to the standards of this forum. Too bad. Hope all the others enjoy their mega FAKE "cottages", I'll go now, it's been unreal (but a sincere thankyou to you).

Well you didn't give anyone much time to respond. I have a feeling, most of us have "REAL" cottages of varying sizes that will house our families. Yours is a sweet cottage, and if I lived alone, I would look for something near your size.
This forum has a moderate readership, and some people are on vacation. No need for reverse snobbery!

Ya wanna know why I didn't reply to you - my husbands best friend committed suicide 8 days ago I've had more important things to do then check the forums.
Enjoy your lovely new cottage I'm sure it will soon be oozing with your charm.

Wow, thats a really harsh statement. Hopefully, it was just the effect of the typing.
Although I have found this board to be very friendly, it does go a bit slowly sometimes. I find that it helps to be sure your posts are in the right category and that you take an interest in all topics, not just the ones you start yourself. Your topic was in an odd forum, didn't really pose a question and as it isn't really yours yet the topic seems to sit out there in limbo.
Cottages come in all shapes, sizes styles and with all different price tags attached. To put down one type, is to put down us all.

Your soon-to-be cottage seems sweet, but you need a little work on your people skills ;). I have been a member of the community for about 3 months and have found everyone to be genuine and friendly. They even overlook my occassional "ditsy" comments and ramblings. No one meant to ignore you, sometimes life just gets busy.
P.S.
RaeNae, My condolences to you and your family. No one is ever prepared for tragedies like that. I hope your husband is handling the loss as well as can be expected.

 Not that it probably matters anymore but I went on a vacation and delivered a dog to a rescue group. See my brother-in-law died at the young age of 37 and I needed to find a home for one of his dogs. Sorry I couldn't stop my life to answer a post that was done on Friday. I had been on here off and on all day on Thurs so get a grip. And for the record my house could never be considered multi-million. I got it for a paltry $41thou and have been fixing it up for the last 2 years.
I think you're the fake here and just trying to make trouble. Adios.

Well I must apologize I guess your post was from two weeks ago. Like it was suggested you may want to post in a different thread. Everything else is pretty much an after thought area.
I still stand by my post however. You were very nasty and many of us do have other things to do or doing than post immediately after you have posted. If you had looked around in here you would have seen that many of us do get annoyed with the mcmansions (I refer to the thread on upcoming issue and the need for more realistic homes that reflect most of us).

pity too because I'm interested in the building a home with a corncob. Head of hay bales but that is something different.

I think everyone should email cobwoman to see if she will come back. I am brand spanking new hear, :o and know you all don't know me to well, but i feel like i know you all and you all have AMAZING homes and ideas. I think she was probably wanting feedback fast because she was excited about making an offer and probably felt as though we didn't like her place she was so enthusiastic about (which was a really cute place)
I think she jumped the gun and said things she shouldn't but I think we should welcome her back. I know this seems like a small close knit community, and she probably thought it was bigger and she would hear a response fast. I have noticed it takes days to get replies sometimes because it is a nice, small community-almost like a small town, which to me is why I joined.
Just my opinion-hope i didn't ruffle any feathers :o
You all are awesome and I am excited to get to know all of ya better!

To put down one type, is to put down us all.[/QUOTE]I agree that a house doesnt have to be expensive and big like the ones you see in the magazines or tv for you to consider it a cottage. Its a lifestyle. I think its about providing comfort and yet not spending thousands more. My house is even smaller than yours, but Its fine with me coz Im my family is happy in it and it gives me the satisfaction that I was able to somehow achieve alil cottage style on it even if it wasnt so easy.
Im a newbie here and I feel at ease coz theyre so helpful and welcoming
Have a nice day!

I agree-whatever size, shape, price it doesn't matter, you can redifine anything and make it cottage style-that is what I love about it. I have seen beautiful clean lined almost minimalistic cottage style and I have also seen many beautiful things in a room that altogether make it such a comfy and cottagey design. There is no "fake" cottage, whatever is comfortable and cozy and homey to us can immulate cottage style. Because in cottage style there are really no rules, that is what i love about it. We have a fairly small space but it works for us (for now-hope to add on a little!) but makes a cozy warm home that we love and treasure. We made it cottage, with the things we love, not necessarily things that go together.
Does anyone on this forum love Country Sampler as much as I do? I love Cottage Living also I just haven't seen anyone mention Country Sampler. I recieve the subsription and love it!:p
